Imagine living in a penthouse with your own private rooftop terrace.  It can happen when you make The Whitney condominiums your new home.   The eight-story building includes 210 separate units, located in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida.  The community does have garage space for residents.  The building has a fitness center on the ground level.   Also on the ground floor are a handful of retailers and some office space along with a wine bar.  You do not have to go far to get some practice time in.  The fourth floor of The Whitney includes a putting green.  There is also a community room and a place for bike storage.  There is a manager on-site.  The building is currently undergoing some renovations, but should be completed by summer 2014.  Homeowners do pay monthly dues of around $600 to a Homeowner’s Association.  Those fees go to fund water and sewer, management fees, parking and taxes and pool service.  The fees also pay for the elevator and roof maintenance.  Built in 2007, The Whitney is located off South Quadrille Boulevard and Evernia Street very close to the public library in Palm Beach County.

The Whitney features one, two or three bedroom condominium homes, ranging from less than 800 square feet to more than 2,100 square feet.  There is also the option for a one-bedroom plus den, which is more than 1,000 square feet.  The building’s luxury penthouse suites include their very own rooftop terrace leading to a heated swimming pool and garden, while the ground floor lofts are great for people who want to combine their home space with their workspace.  They come in two-story models.  The Whitney features both homes for sale and for rent.  On the larger end of the scale, an average three-bedroom, two-bath unit, at about 1,500 square feet, sells for the mid $400,000s.  Other homes in the building range in the mid $300,000s, with some for sale less than $200,000.  Expect to find stainless steel appliances with granite countertops, marble bathrooms and CBS construction throughout.

The Whitney is close to all of the action that living in downtown West Palm Beach brings.  The building is just two blocks away from the historic Clematis Street District.  This area of town is well known for its unique shops and restaurants.  You will also find art galleries and nightly entertainment venues.  Downtown’s shopping district, CityPlace, is also just a block or two  away.  The shopping district features even more stores, many of them nationally known.  CityPlace also has several restaurants to choose from.  Walk another two blocks from The Whitney and you will reach the Intracoastal and the Atlantic Ocean.  There are some fantastic locations for diving, boating and fishing, as well as other water sports.  When it comes to transportation, getting around downtown West Palm Beach is easy.  If you cannot walk, you can board a train.  The new train station is going in right across the street from The Whitney.  The economy in the area of West Palm Beach is heavily influenced by tourism.  When it comes to healthcare, nearby hospitals include Butler Medical Center and Good Samaritan Medical Center.  Children living within The Whitney attend school in the School District of Palm Beach County.  The public school district is top-rated and very large.  Nearby schools to the community, include Palm Beach Central High School and New Horizons Elementary School.  Area private schools include Southwide Academy, Learning Foundation, Kings Academy and Wellington Christian School.  As for higher education, Palm Beach Atlantic University is located in downtown West Palm Beach.  Keiser University and Northwood University also have nearby campuses in this area of Palm Beach County.
