With four miles of beach along the Atlantic Ocean, Delray Beach is just north of Boca Raton and Highland Beach, and south of Boynton Beach and Gulf Stream. It is east of US Route 1, on the barrier island. Just west of city limits, the area is known as West Delray, and is in unincorporated Palm Beach County. The downtown area of Delray Beach extends east to the Atlantic Ocean, and west to I-95, both north and south of Atlantic Avenue. With average winter temperatures in the 60s, and summer temperatures in the 80s, Delray Beach capitalizes on its cool ocean breezes throughout the year.
Communities
Delray Beach is a booming real estate market, with young professionals leading the charge. The area is truly a pedestrian friendly community, with many homeowners trying to get as close as possible to Atlantic Avenue and the beach. Lakeview Golf Course is a par 60, 18-hole course, which is also open to the public. As well, there are dozens of other public and private golf courses located across the area of Palm Beach County.
Shopping
Shoppers in Downtown Delray Beach enjoy a unique mix of retailers with district offerings. Expect to also find some boutique stores in the area featuring the latest designs and fashions. Atlantic Avenue is the main street running through Downtown Delray Beach all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. If features locally made art pieces, and one-of-a-kind shops.
