Enjoy living in a community of homes with easy access to the Intracoastal, when you make your next home within the Southend community of West Palm Beach.  The Southend features more than 280 different homes, with varied styles and features.  Spanning nearly a six square mile area, the community is close to both the Intracoastal and the Lake Worth Lagoon.  While some homes date back to the 1920’s, other homes are just a few years old.  You will find the Southend off Olive and the Intracoastal, in beautiful Palm Beach County.

Although many of the homes are different, the community of Southend features several split-bedroom floor plans, with ceramic flooring and fireplaces.  On the outside, expect to find bountiful gardens, beautiful patios and balconies, and some private swimming pools.  The area includes both Old Florida-style homes and ranch homes.  The prices are varied, with a two bedroom, one bath home priced in the mid $200,000s, with around 1,100 square feet.  Compare this to a 4,500 square foot home, with five bedrooms and three baths in the neighborhood, priced at around $1.2 million dollars. 

Southend is very close to some of the best locations for shopping and dining in all of West Palm Beach, Florida.  The Clematis Street District is a trendy area of shops and restaurants just waiting to be explored.  Tour the area’s art galleries by day, and enjoy the live entertainment and music at night.  Also close to Southend is CityPlace.  The downtown shopping center features more than 100 stores, including both specialty shops and retail chains.  There are also numerous restaurants in the area.  For more high-end shopping and dining, visit West Palm Beach’s one and only, Worth Avenue.  With the Intracoastal so close, outdoor recreational opportunities are plentiful.  The area is great for boating, diving and fishing.  Residents are also just a short distance from the Palm Beaches.  When it comes to other outdoor activities, like golf, you will not have to go far.  There are more than 150 public and private golf courses within Palm Beach County to choose from.  Downtown West Palm Beach also provides access to the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.  The building hosts the opera, the ballet and live theatre year-round.  For a more casual night out with the family, catch the live entertainment at downtown’s Meyer Amphitheater or during the annual SunFest art and music festival.  It is along the waterfront each spring.  The Norton Museum of Art, in downtown West Palm Beach, is a fantastic venue for exploring the arts, as well.  It is the state’s largest art museum.  Downtown West Palm Beach’s main public library is just a few years old, and is part of the redeveloped Centennial Park area of downtown.  Tourism is a big draw for the local job market, as is the medical field.  Nearby hospitals to Southend include, Good Samaritan Medical Center and Butler Medical Center, among several others in the community.  Children living in Southend attend school at South Olive Elementary School, Community Middle School and Forest Hill Community High School.  All three schools are part of the top-rated School District of Palm Beach County.  It is one of the largest public school districts in the entire state of Florida, and in the United States, as well.  The school district is also a big employer for the region of Palm Beach County.  Other schools include the private Oxbridge Academy, Cardinal Newman High School and The King’s Academy.  As for choices in higher education, Palm Beach Atlantic University is located right in downtown West Palm Beach.  Other choices include Keiser University and Northwood University.
